My memory card is damaged. What I can do about it?

I tried to use the camera to format but even to recognize card at all. I have a Nikon D90 with an error with the letters "CHA" and states that "this memory card can not be used. Jason, SD and SDHC cards are so cheap that you can buy cheaper replacements.
