Does anyone with a multimedia storage experience (IE: iomega-player screen)?
I'm considering buying a new external hard drive, and I wonder, Is not a good idea to mix the best of both worlds … storage and multimedia capabilities to connect directly to HDTV?, perhaps I'm asking too much … _
If you are going to get a multimedia system, it would be best to look at the Photobridge Roku. There are units out there, but none seem compare to what the Roku Photobridge is capable of. There is a great community behind the Photobridge with a lot of great third-party utilities. I would say the only weakness it is that can only handle MPEG-2, not MPEG-4 video formats. There are ways around that, although the use of VLC to encode and transmit an MPEG-4 format as MPEG-2 to the unit. For $ 300, is a large unit with high-definition output. Then I find an external hard drive or even one of those network drives. Either way, The Roku Photobridge be able to use the shared drive to access their videos, music and photos.
